BOB and CAROLYN ORCHID
PROPRIETORS of SPRINGWOOD INN
Bob Orchid's careers of Naval Aviator and then in executive positions in manufacturing took he, Carolyn, and their two children, Lance and Lyssa, to homes in many states, but it was Virginia Beach where they lived the longest and call their home base. However, they lastly lived in the beautiful low country of South Carolina on Daufuskie Island.
After a decision to live somewhere between their children, they happened upon the Samuel Noble home that was then for sale by the Woodruff family. Sam Noble's home had the graciousness and elegance of a Southern home while having much warmth as well. 23 acres of beautiful gardens and woods needed to be brought back to its original beauty and this seemed to be a great project for Bob. Carolyn loved the prospect of entertaining which for many years had been her love. In buying the home they began restoring and updating it, hoping to be good stewards for Sam Noble.
With its history and its significance to Anniston, the Orchids decided to share this very historic home of the town's founder, Samuel Noble, and open it up by offering it as a venue for weddings and other events, as well as opening it for overnight stays. Guests can now come and enjoy the tranquility and beauty of this very special home, Springwood Inn.....the setting and home say it all.........it's Southern!
